Benanti nerello mascalese -nerello capuccio 2021

Mt Etna is having a moment, and I'm not talking eruptions. The wines have been discovered by the chattering classes, and not before time.
Sicilian wines can be divided into those from Etna, and those not from Etna - it is so different to the rest of the island: much cooler, much higher, with significant rainfall, and magnificent mineral laden soils.

The resulting wines are higher in acidity, lighter and more elegant than their lowland cousins. This Etna rosso is made from the two nerellos - mascalese and capuccio - that are unique to the Etna sub-zone. Imagine a wine somewhere between pinot noir and nebbiolo, and you're most of the way there.
